“An environment-based education movement - at all levels of education - will help students realize that school isn't supposed to be a polite form of incarceration, but a portal to the wider world.”

Richard Louv, Last Child in the Woods

The Greenwall School

We offer a Monday - Wednesday program focused on the core academic subjects (math, language arts, science, and social studies) on a 9 acre rural campus with fields, forest, pond and stream. Students split time between outdoor and indoor learning spaces with the addition of healthy blocks for outdoor free play. We strive for balance between real academic work and experiences, connectedness, and whole person needs.

Although all Greenwall students are registered as homeschoolers, we operate in partnership with a Washington state-approved umbrella school through whom records and transcripts are kept. Thursdays and Fridays are held open for beloved weekly programming at The Wilderness Awareness School and Hawthorn Farm, as well as informal gatherings, clubs, and adventures. Our school is a helping community and assists families in finding childcare coverage when additional days or support are needed. Let us know how we can support you.

We offer:

  • The Greenwall School is a community of people who help and support one another and our programs. We ask families to contribute a portion of their time and energy as part of a reciprocal giving model. Families should plan to commit at least 36 hours per year (or 2 hours per month) of volunteer work at the school. This can take place during school hours or on the weekend depending on the service.

Opportunities to contribute to our learning spaces are available throughout the year. Additional volunteer opportunities include field trip support, library organization, land work, facilities help, building projects, firewood splitting, planting, and beyond.
